He got in!

Woohoo..it's been a bit of a roller coaster. Nate got everything turned in last November, but we got a call on February 9th informing us that the fee was not received and applications had now closed (Nate needed me to use my debit card online, but as I was sick November/December it had slipped my mind). The deadline for priority applications was December 1st, and the deadline for regular applications was February 1st.
Now it was February 9th.
Nate was so forgiving, saying there must be a reason...but I felt just awful about it. I had really let him down. We hurried and paid online and prayed...but things did not look good. We were advised not to get our hopes up so we started to explore other options...
Well, long story short, it's about a week later and Nate checked online last night and there it was! His acceptance letter saying that he was admitted to BYU Provo for the Fall 2009 semester.
We are so happy, and so grateful. We had angels working on our behalf I am sure!! Nate is now a Cougar. GO COUGARS!
(The above photo is how it all started. Nate attended the BYU Soar program summer of 2008. This photo was taken outside the Salt Lake Temple. Nate is third from the left).

Just another day....

For those of you who get to spend time with preschoolers, you know how funny they can be. We have no shortage of funny moments around here - all orchestrated of course by five year old Deighton and three year old Ammon. Just recently, Brendan was playing Batman and Joker with Ammon. As they chased each other around the house
Ammon directed the action, telling Brendan what move to make next. Ammon, who can be a little dramatic, fell to the ground as if wounded and motioned for Brendan to come closer as he took his 'dying breath'. Brendan of course obliged, only to be wrangled into a choke hold so that Ammon could whisper his last dramatic words. And what were those words you ask? Well, Ammon took a deep breath and whispered..."Your breath stinks. GO BRUSH YOUR TEETH BRENDAN!" ...and with that, a dramatic sigh signalled that he was 'gone'.

Martin Luther King Day

It's always fun when we get a day together with nothing planned but enjoying our own company. After a big breakfast of French Toast - a family fave - we headed to Provo to watch Madagascar 2 for fifty cents each...you can't beat that! Lauren got some shopping/looking done...but she is fairly wise with her money and didn't part with any of it today. Jerry and the little boys finished the day with a swim (indoors of course) where Deighton swam a whole length for the first time. Lauren and I ran some more errands, and the big boys headed home to keep their Playstation company - it gets so lonely apparently - ha. It's late now and we are all a little blue that it is back to business as usual tomorrow, but at least we had a great day together. We don't get to do this very often since I work Saturdays and we spend Sundays in worship. Yay for Federal holidays that the schools actually recognize. Ha. Speaking of things federal, tomorrow marks the historic occasion of President Obama taking over the Whitehouse. A multi-racial President of the United States. I think he represents us well, and even though I would classify myself as Republican, I am excited for all the good that will come of this. Ka kite...(later everyone)

Ha - this is fun already!
I read my niece's blog yesterday and thought it was a wonderful idea. I think this is really what I was hoping for when I joined facebook. I am finding facebook to be quite unfufilling really. I think reading other people's blogs would be much more my style. Thanks, Ashleigh for introducing me to the concept of 'the blog'. Stay tuned for more...
